5 basics to make your content shine

5 basics to make your content shine

The internet has taken us by storm and that leaves its mark — in the business world too. Content marketing is trending more than ever. High time to make the most of it yourself. Does your content provoke a reaction and get you the result you want? These are the 5 basics of every strong content strategy.

1. Why, oh why do you make content?

Perhaps the most important question: what is the goal of your content? It could be anything. Increasing brand awareness? More visitors? More sales? Set your priorities and adapt your content to your goal.

2. Who is your ideal customer?

Think about who your ideal customer is. What are their challenges and frustrations? And how can you help this person with your product or service? Make it concrete by building a persona.

3. Serve your customer

Take a moment to consider the content you want to share. Stay relevant by responding to what can inspire, help or maybe even entertain your prospect. Your main goal is to be of service to your customers, so make sure your content works towards that goal.

4. The ultimate channel

You certainly don't have to be present on every channel. So think about that ideal customer of yours again, and consider how this customer spends their time on the internet. Are you dealing with a real social media addict? Or does this person rather dive into blogs? Release your unique content in the places where your customer is guaranteed to see it.

5. Timing is everything

You may not have considered it, but the timing of introducing your content to the online world matters a lot. Experiment. Publish your messages and analyse when you get the most hits and interactions on your posts. The rule of thumb? B2C customers are easier to reach in the evening and at weekends. B2B, on the other hand, is best reached during the day and on weekdays.

Conclusion

Creating content is so much more than 'just writing a bit of text'. It takes creativity, time and knowledge. But the advantages that come with it are more than worth it.
