Every single day we come across hundreds of adverts. Some stick with us a little longer, others pass by without us even noticing. Are you looking for a way to make sure your advert really catches the eye instead of disappearing into the great digital crowd? Then read on. 👇
Tip 1: Let your visual speak
A picture says more than a thousand words. That saying is tested more and more these days, and every time it passes with flying colours. We all scroll through Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn or whatever your favourite platform may be 😉. So it's up to you to grab attention with a visual, photo or video that stands out, so people stop scrolling and take a closer look at your advert.
Tip 2: Catchy copy
It's not only a striking visual that matters — short, powerful copy can grab attention too. In many cases it's what tips people over the line and gets them clicking through to the website. In other words: alongside the visual, your copy is definitely a make-it-or-break-it factor. So be concrete and persuasive.
Tip 3: Be personal
Alongside a striking visual and catchy copy, the personal aspect of your advert matters a lot too. People feel spoken to far more quickly when they recognise themselves in something. Confront your audience with their needs and gaps. Use that and play into it.
Tip 4: Think mobile
Indeed, these days most people browse every possible social channel on their smartphone. So it's very important that your advert looks good on a phone and not only on desktop. The way to get this right: play with the font size on your visual and above all make sure everything is clear and easy to read.
Tip 5: Use the right call to action
You know the buttons: 'read more', 'shop now', 'claim offer' and so many more. That button tells people what they'll see when they click through from the advert to the website. Don't use a 'contact us' button and then put a link behind it that sends people to a sign-up page. Use the buttons wisely and don't send people down a dead end. The same applies to the link behind it.
Tip 6: The landing page (a.k.a. the link behind it)
Don't let people wander around your website — make sure they immediately see what they clicked the advert for. If they don't, you lose potential leads, customers or even sales. The fact that people click through on your ad is the sign that there's a certain interest. So make sure everything forms a nice whole: from A to Z.
Tip 7: Test, test, test and another test
There are no fixed rules or descriptions of what's guaranteed to work best. What works for someone else doesn't necessarily work for you. So it's a matter of testing. Run different visuals and copy alongside each other and analyse what works best for your audience. ✅
